Similar to the other 10.1″ Acer Iconia tablets, the 10.1″ HD Multi-Touch LED-backlit TFT 720 p LCD display of the Acer Iconia W500 also features an astonishing 1280 x 800 resolution with wide viewing angle. Thanks to the state of the art the ATI Radeon HD 6250 graphics card, the tablet delivers sharp images, rich and vivid colors, as well as smooth multimedia playback. For the ultimate viewing experience, you can connect the tablet to your wide screen HDTV using the provided HDMI cable.
The Acer Iconia Tab W500 is unique due to its hybrid design. It is one of the few tablet PCs in the market which can turn into a notebook for your convenience. If portability is what you need, you just have to disconnect the keyboard dock. On the other hand, for easy typing, simply insert the dockable full-size Acer FineTip keyboard et voila, the tablet turns into a notebook in just a matter of seconds.
Compared to other members of Acer Iconia series, the Iconia A100 is more special. First and foremost, it is the smallest member of the family; the dimensions of the tablet are 4.6 x 7.7 x 0.5 inches and it weighs 14.7 ounces. While the other Iconia tablets come with a 10.1″ display, the Acer Iconia A100 sports a 7″ WSVGA multi-touch screen for better portability. With 1024 x 600 screen resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio, the tablet is capable of delivering stunning, crystal clear images. Thanks to its compact size, this gadget is a convenience for highly mobile individuals.
You can have a video conference with your family, friends or colleagues anytime by using the dual Acer Crystal Eye Webcams with 1280 x 1024 resolution. Both the front and rear-facing cameras have a 1.3 MP resolution. This is a little bit disappointing, considering that the other Iconia tablets (e.g. the A100 and A500 series) come with 2 MP front-facing and 5 MP rear-facing cameras.
It is a nice try for Acer. However, if you really need to have a tablet that is medium sized, then you should still go for the iPad or its closest rival, the Xoom 2: Media Edition.
